Sunday Specials: Looking for the 3rd and the 1st

Compared to back-to-backs, aiming for a 3rd non-consecutive victory and a first-ever win do not seem to be as daunting. And in particular, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean “MJ” Lastimosa is thirsting more than ever to gift the Philippines with a Diamond Nexus Lab crown considering that the last time another Filipina topped the annual Miss Universe competition happened way back in 1973 when most of you, dear readers, were still unborn and looking at the the late 60s and early 70s as totally ancient.

And as for Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 Kris Tiffany Janson, she could set history as the first Filipina winner of Miss Intercontinental, on top of having been installed as the first Binibini entry of the country in the Europe-based beauty contest. Hers is a mission filled with many achievable firsts. And to fulfill the end result in one big swoop would make her reign…

Sunday Specials: Back-to-Back Dreams for Bianca and Yvethe

There is no denying the fact that going for a back-to-back international pageant win for one country is not only challenging. It can also be a constant source of pressure for the lady who is hoping to be the recipient of the crown from the reigning titleholder who represented the same nation. But it has already been proven doable, regardless of how rare it can get.

Such is the tough assignment resting on the hands of Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Mary Anne Bianca Guidotti and Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Marie Santiago. Not only are their predecessors the crowned international pageant winners last year, the demands of sealing a consecutive victory are getting heavier by the day.

I am certain that both Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago and Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul wouldn’t want it any other way to insure the continued success of the Philippines in…

Sunday Specials: Searching for an International Mission

The spotlight may not go their direction as often as they would want the attention lingering in their midst. Take for example Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 2014 Parul Shah. With the supposed affiliation of Miss Tourism Queen International with BPCI, she should have already prepared and left for China to take part in the former. But somehow, that prospect doesn’t seem to be shaping up in the immediate horizon (unless fresh developments in the last 24 hours will say otherwise). While there are countless other “Tourism” titles available, the organizers are careful in forging ties with just any foreign group with no impressive track record. It’s enough that MTQI is no longer giving out a prestigious vibe. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for Parul, though.

And as runners-up, both Laura Lehmann and Hannah Ruth Sison could only hope for the best and pray that something more productive lands…

John Spainhour and his version of a selfie

mrwp20141 Our John Spainhour in Torquay definitely needs to learn a thing or two about taking the best selfie, but nobody can’t deny that he is always looking good and standing out among the Mr. World 2014 candidates.

Now, if only he brought along a selfie monopod with him there, taking shots would’ve been a lot more like it. 😉

Let’s watch out for the Blue Team’s video which should be uploaded soon.

P.S. Visit, like and interact on his Mr. World 2014 Facebook page HERE.

The Philippine Consulate in New York City took the opportunity of Miss World 2013 Megan Young’s visit to the Big Apple and scheduled a well-attended Meet-and-Greet with many Filipinos from the East Coast pouring in and getting photo ops with our Queen in the process. Her presence left many of the guest enchanted with her beauty and warmth.

Mini Throwback Thursday: Hannah Ruth Lulu Sison

normannorman.com

hannahruyth1 Ever wondered how Bb. Pilipinas 2014 2nd Runner-Up Hannah Ruth Sison looked like before she stepped into the beauty pageant world and got all made up for all the glitz and glamour of Bb. Pilipinas? Well, the thumbnail pic on the left is the profile photo in an old minispace.com account and it wasn’t very easy digging up her close-up with long pigtail on. A far more innocent projection compared to her ravishing look (photo below) during the recently-conducted Bb. Pilipinas Santacruzan 2014, no? 🙂

The ladies of Bodyshots Philippines 2014

normannorman.com

These are the female contenders for Bodyshots Philippines 2014. Prior to the Press Presentation, I was all set to put my stamp of approval to all the former Bb. Pilipinas joiners. But then again, there were some relative unknowns who amped up their presence and could spoil things up for the very familiar ladies.

P.S. Vina Openiano’s set card was not yet available as of press time.

Just like the men, I took the liberty of sharing my six (6) preferred competitors based on their actual ramp and projection skills yesterday. There is statuesque Analita Vizcarra, Binibini 24 Ednornance Agustin, Fil-Japanese Aira Inoue, young upstart Hilda Ronato, Binibini 34 Leonalyn dela Cruz and the very short bob-cut and round-eyed Angelica Bernardo.

I wanted to include Racquel Kabigting, but she just wasn’t in her best elements doing Bodyshots. Or perhaps, she was not up to the Press Presentation proceedings. Hopefully, she…

Hillarie Parungao and May Myat Noe share one thing in common

It is interesting to note the styling and projection of Miss Philippines Hillarie Daniella Parungao and Miss Myanmar May Myat Noe in the ongoing Miss Asia Pacific World 2014 competition in Seoul, Korea. Looks like they come from the same training ground, right?

Well, it would be safe to say that both ladies have been prepared for the pageant here in the Philippines. May Myat Noe stayed for a few weeks in the country to be polished for her international assignment where some local experts (including Pawee Ventura, Mario Bergantinos and Macoy Manlapaz) took charge of her marked improvements. And the results are showing big-time. The girl is slowly getting much media attention in the South Korean capital.

The Bodyshot Pageant Pros

normannorman.com

image

bodyshots2014ab You would think that, just because of their previous national pageant experiences, the quartet of Vina Openiano, Racquel Kabigting, Ednornance Agustin and Leonalyn dela Cruz will find Bodyshots Philippines 2014 an easy challenge. On the contrary, joining this annual model search will prove to be double the risks and demands on their part.

For one, fellow female competitors have already placed targets on their back. One unmissable misstep and the greenhorns can easily steal the thunder from right under their noses. And while their names and faces have already become so much more familiar, the expectations on their individual performances have gone up by several notches.

Of course, some would say that a model search is an entirely different ballgame compared to beauty contests. But in the end, both are tough competitions. In the latter, a crown and the chance to represent the country abroad are the rewards to work…
